The Naturalista’s descended upon Castleberry Hills in Atlanta as Coco Curls held their Spring Trends event to usher in the Spring season in fabulous way! Coco Curls owner and diva extraordinaire Jeannell Darden, hosted this haute event which featured insightful discussions on fashion, hair, and makeup trends for the natural divas. Now ladies, let me tell you that this event was choc-full of fabulosity! The Coco Curls’ Spring Trends event was definitely a must-attend and easily qualified as a “you had to be there” affair. And if that isn’t enough to have you in full-on regret for missing this fabulous affair, the event was also featured on Essence.com’s Street Style report. Hey, I warned you that it was fab! Ok, so here’s a rundown of all the highlights of Coco Curls’ Spring Trends event…
The event featured a host of panelists who gave their forecast on upcoming trends for the season, as well there was topic driven discussions covering a range of subjects such as “Changing and caring for your natural hair” by natural hair stylist DiAsha Hollingsworth of DollfendBlu Hair Studio, “Choosing your color”; a how-to on selecting a makeup color palette that best compliments your skin and style hosted by beauty expert Jazmine Jade of The Art of Jade Inc by Fashion Rouge and Master Cosmetologist and Makeup Artist Bridgette Gant of Miss B Locs.
Last but not least there was the “What’s in a blog?” discussion featuring Kerrie “Virtuous Styls” Cooke and yours truly! Yep, you heard me right! I was a featured panelist alongside Ms. Kerrie the VirtuousOne. 🙂 During our segment Kerrie shared her tips-and-tricks on looking fab on a budget, discovering the best in thrifty fashion, and chic beauty finds around Atlanta, and I offered the attendees some insight into how I find the hautest events around town. As you can imagine I was on cloud ninety-nine as I was so grateful for the opportunity to speak alongside this group of esteemed ladies; and since this was my very first experience as a panelist I wanted to make sure I didn’t look like a cooked goose up there in front of the audience. 🙂 Overall I think I did pretty good with my segment, and I’m also proud to say that no tomatoes were hurled or harmed during my speech. 😀 I definitely picked up a wealth of useful information from all of the featured panelists and everyone did a fabulous job.
Guest of the event were indulged with insightful Q&A sessions, fabulous styling demos, music, fabulous giveaways every 30 minutes, and a host of other freebies including an 8oz jar of Coco Curls cream.WOW! Attendees mixed and mingled over an assortment of delish delicacies, scrumptious appetizers, and Iwi Fresh signature fresh fruit non alcoholic natural-tinis. De-lish!!! Guests also shopped season worthy and trendy fashions, and were treated to a competition where makeup artists battled for the title of best 5-minute Spring face. Attendees also got a jumpstart on their Spring wardrobe with select jewelry, fashion, and accessory by vendors such as T.Marie of Carisma Designs who brought some of her amazing handcrafted jewelry (I absolutely looove her pieces), Deborah Simon of Simon Creative Center who had some fabulous beaded, crystal, and gemstone pieces, and “racks upon racks upon racks” of thrifted goodies.
Guests also indulged in some of the most decadent goodies around from chocolatier and artisan Yvonne Villani of Candy by Request who made these amazing chocolate inspired creations that had my jaw dropping in both wonderment and anticipation of them reaching my mouth. 😉 Trust me that was one of the few times you’ll find me absolutely speechless. 😛 Guests were also treated to manis and pedis, facials, and massages courtesy of Iwi Fresh Garden Day Spa (fka Pampered Nail and Body Spa) located in the super trendy Castleberry Hills district where the event was befittingly held. I had the pleasure of visiting Iwi Fresh while attending a three region Tweetup during the Fall, and I had such a wonderful time during the event. Spa owner Yolanda Owens has created an amazing experience at Iwi Fresh with its tranquil ambiance and fabulous Asian inspired décor, and OMG the comfy seating…let’s just say that my hind-quarters were very thankful by night’s end (LOL). In fact I was in such a relaxed state that I was a mere nod or two away from a full-on coma. 🙂
Thank you to Jeannell Darden for hosting such a fabulously successful event and for extending an invitation for me to be a panelist. I am forever grateful! I had a wonderful time and I look forward to more from Coco Curls!
Be sure to check out all of the fab divas who came out to the event rocking their natural hairstyles on Essence.com. And you can also catch a glimpse of me during my 15 seconds of fame at pic #31. I’m ready for my close up now Ms. Jeannell… 😉
