About ‘da Kink in my Hair:
Presented by Trey Anthony, Creator/Writer/Lead Actor, and set in a Caribbean hair salon in Toronto, ‘da Kink in my Hair gives voice to eight black women who tell their unforgettable stories in a kaleidoscope of drumming, singing and dance. It is a testament to the challenges and triumphs in the lives of contemporary black women, many of whom are immigrants to North America from the Caribbean. Mixing laughter and tears, revelation and inspiration, the unapologetically intense stories of each woman are woven together in this powerful piece.
The Atlanta production of the play will be featuring Grammy Award-winning singer Melanie Fiona, actress Terri J Vaughn from The Steve Harvey Show, and R&B megastar and star of the hit show R&B Divas Atlanta, Angie Stone!
‘da Kink in my Hair has won 4 NAACP awards and has sold out shows in Canada and London, England! The stage show was adapted to a successful television series! ‘da Kink in My Hair will be making its Atlanta debut at the prestigious Cobb Energy Center from September 6th–8th, 2013.

I enjoy the freedom and expression of self when it comes to Natural Hair Styles! Going natural is the best decision I've ever made. I feel more ME!
Hi! I would like to see The Kink In My Hair and be entered to win, because I identify with it so much, on so many levels. being a young black woman and have dealt with so many issues and seen the things I seen. I think it would be a great enlightening experience. I feel it would empower me with the content in the play over all, also it would be awesome to support Trey Anthony in this since I am an aspiring producer and fillmmaker my self.
Thank You So Much for the opportunity! hope to win. I also am following you on twitter now: @aprilinspired.
All The Best,
April
Wendy!!! You my first winner!!! I will contact you on how to pick up your tickets!!! Make sure to tell your friends to enter too!!
Natural hair is often discouraged and I represent every woman that embraces it! Being natural has not only boosted my confidence but it has given me the opportunity to express myself! Oh how I love being the example of a proud natural woman!
There is so much pressure to fit into this Barbie Doll box that has been created for women recently. I'm always on the search for opportunities to embrace the Kink in my Hair. I refuse to conform to what is considered beautiful or "bad" for the moment. I know I would definitely enjoy the experience of seeing a play that discusses the issues we have as women when it comes to our hair. I am also of Caribbean decent so this is definitely right up my alley.
The story line seems rich. After reading about each character I had an overwhelming feeling of wanting to know more. I think this play does a good job of wedging the gap in diversity. It tells a women's story; not a black, white, or cultural story.
There is nothing more beautiful than embracing, loving, & simply Being Yourself. Who we are Naturally is our gift to the World and allowing yourself to Love & Celebrate all that you are is Your Gift to YOU! My Motto: BE YOU because Being You is BE-YOU-Tiful! <3
Da Kink in my Hair, makes me think "attitude" "sassy" and "spice" all the things natural hair is. Its the extension of the confidence black women exude naturally anyway. One year in my natural hair jouney and I'm loving it!!
Hi Christina you are the 6th winner of the contest!! I will DM you the info!!!
Being natural is so beautiful. There are a variety of styles for our natural hair. Some say that being natural isn't for everyone. I think that's false, being natural is a way to show self-expression through our hair. Wether you are kinky or curly, it's still gorgeous. I love my natural hair!
