Salt — pure, natural salt – has some surprising properties when it comes to your health. I had the chance to indulge in some dry salt therapy at the Intown Salt Room and the experience was unforgettable!
Meditation can help you relax, de-stress and get clarity – if you can find time to do it. I love, love, love the idea of a soothing, centering practice that helps lift my mood and lower stress (yes, please), but actually doing meditation is different.
Getting to spend some time in the Intown Salt Room meditation space was truly amazing. Once you are ensconced in this quiet, soothing spot, you can reflect and relax without distraction. The pure salty air just feels healthy (and it is); in just a half hour, my head felt clear and I felt ready to tackle just about anything. The silence and lack of interruption and distraction (goodbye, cell phone) meant that I could just focus and be; the exact goal of meditation time.
Breathe it In
If you’re busy and constantly on the go, simply sitting in one of the comfortable lounge chairs and breathing in the dry salt feels a little weird at first — but I got over it, fast. Once you settle in and realize you can be alone with your own thoughts and contemplations, the experience is truly amazing. The salt room’s soothing ambiance works on you quickly — in minutes I was breathing deeply (like the real yoga breaths you’re supposed to do throughout the day) — and feeling relaxed. At the end of the 30 minute session, I felt calm and happy; it is surprisingly uplifting.
If you find yourself hiding in the bathroom from the kids or pets, multitasking your day away or simply overdoing it, then a visit to the Intown Salt Room will be an eye-opener for sure. You won’t realize how much interaction, distraction and stimulation you encounter every minute of every day until you totally remove them. The difference is amazing and life changing!
In just a little over an hour, I was able to relax and find some balance; I left Intown feeling cheerful and upbeat and ready to tackle anything. The difference between understanding the benefits of breathing and meditation and actually taking the time to do so in this rich dry salt environment is truly amazing. I rank this visit right up there with a top quality massage session or spa treatment in terms of relaxation. I will definitely be back!
Intown Salt Room is located at 563 Memorial Dr., Unit CU-A in Atlanta next door to Doc Chey’s Noodle House. See ya in the Salt Room!!!
