Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls
With the first weekend of Coachella down and another coming up, it is now just the beginning of the wonderful time of year that is festival season. Coachella is one of the first festivals to kickoff a season full of music. Soon enough we will be dancing at Lollapalooza in Chicago, getting a bit more classy in New York at the Governors Ball, and pulling out our cowboy boots at the Country Music Festival in Nashville.
While some of us are seasoned veterans to the festival game, others may just be hopping onto the bandwagon (and trust me you'll will never want to get off). Going to these festivals for the first time can be a bit overwhelming, but totally worth it. It is stressful enough finding the perfect outfits to show off each day, so I am here to ease some of your stress about festival season by providing you some do's and don'ts to keep in mind before rocking out.
DO'S
DO use cash instead of credit cards
Festivals can be hectic and the last thing you want is a stolen or lost credit card. My advice… leave those bad boys zipped up in some pocket only in case you really need them and use cash for most of your purchases.
DO rock a flower headband
Flower headbands are oh so cute, but sometimes hard to find the right places to wear them. Well hello festival season, the perfect opportunity to bring out your inner hippe and look good doing it in your flower headband.
DO bring those sunglasses
Most of the day is full of sun, and you are going to love the fact that your brought sunglasses to protect those eyes. Bonus points for later when your makeup is a bit worn from all the dancing and you can just throw on your sunglass to look put together again!
DO have a spare phone recharger
Festivals are hard to keep track of all of your friends sometimes, and with all of the video and pictures you will want to be taking, an spare phone recharge will be a great thing to just throw in your bag for later in the day.
DON'TS
DON'T wear heals
You are going to be running around all day, so the last thing you need are your feet to be aching. Do yourself a favor and put the heels aside for the weekend and put on some comfy Converse or Toms.
DON'T forget the flash tats
Flash tats are all the rage these days. They are a great accessory to add some metallic jewelry to your outfit, and pair perfectly with the festival vibe.
DON'T bring a big purse
You will be squeezing through crowds and dancing in small spaces into the night, and a big purse is a hassle to deal with in any of these situations. My go-to for festivals is either a crossbody bag or a fanny pack. They are compact and you can easily throw them over your should or clip them across your waist and forget about even having to carry them around.
DON'T leave the house without applying sunscreen
Although the sun might not be shinning bright, you will be outside and don't want to harm your skin in the process. Apply a nice layer of sunscreen right before you head off to the festival just to be safe.
Have fun this year during festival season! Comment below which festival you will be attending!
