♫Going to the Chapel…And we’re gonna get married!♫
That’s what came to mind while I was en route to the “Beauty & The Bride” event at Polished Beauty Lounge in Vinings. Now, I’m not a member of the famed girl trio, The Dixie Cups, so maybe that tune was slightly out of context in my case, as only a few weeks earlier I had already exchanged my vows in matrimony. (Insert patter clap) So, if you will, my present status is best related to that of one Shug Avery in The Color Purple, where she holds up her ring finger and proclaims, I’s Married Now! 😉
Now that that’s clear, let’s move on…
“Beauty & The Bride; hosted by author and wedding expert Tia R. Ervin; was the prime opportunity for brides as well as wedding professionals to “engage” in real talk about weddings while picking up simple tips and solutions on how to pull a wedding off without a hitch. This “bridalpalooza” was also a chance for brides pick up a few coveted beauty secrets that will help keep their glow as bright as the ‘bling in the ring.’ And, with countless weddings under her belt, Tia R. Ervin aka “The WEDucator” and owner of Milestone Occasions, knows the make or break tips for making every woman shine on the most important day of her life. Guests of the event were equipped with invaluable knowledge and advice from choosing a good wedding planner to “life after the wedding”. Yes ladies (and gents)…there is such a thing. 😀
I was so excited about attending this event. Just the thought of meeting the brides-to-be and the glow of excitement surrounding their wedding day takes me back to my own pre-wedding planning and the moments leading up to my big day, and also how I was one misplaced orchid away from becoming a certified Bridezilla. 😀 Anyone who’s tried to plan their “own” wedding knows all too well the fine line between having a successful event and being committed to ward #3 of the mental asylum. Can I get an amen ladies?… (insert cricket chirps) O.k. Moving on…
The Polished Beauty Lounge provided the perfect setting as ladies were treated to complimentary manicures and pedicures while indulging in delicious Qream liqueur and decadent cupcakes by Gimme Some Suga Bakery Bar. Qream AND cupcakes? Take me away! 😀 Floral Couture also did a fabulous job of decorating the place with hot pink accents throughout that set the tone for the haute discussions. 😀
Attendees were also treated to fabulous swag bags with goodies from Diva Wine Shop, Livi Rae Lingerie, Perfect Wedding Guide. There was also a raffle with fabulous prizes from EdenFantasys (ooh la la), Silpada Sterling Silver Jewerly, Wrapped Couture, and Qream liqueur. Kennard Photography and Tracey Brown Photography were also on hand to capture the the highlights of the event.
Thanks to the fab Tamika Morrison of T. Morrison Agency for the invite.
During the event I had the pleasure of meeting several amazing women such as Mary Chatman of Black Bride, TMarie of Carisma Designs, and Alicia Edwards of Alicia Style. I had a wonderful time mixing and mingling with all the ladies, as well as picking up a few nuggets of wisdom from Tia R. Ervin. I only wish I’d had the pleasure of meeting Tia prior to my wedding one month prior. With Tia’s guidance I’m sure I would have eliminated a great deal of the stressful moments leading up to my own “big day”.
Well, I must be going…Visiting hours at the ward are up, and they are about to show The Color Purple in the TV room. 😀 Ciao!
