All rise in the case of Frizzy Hair v. Coco Curls.
All of the participants have been sworn in. Let the case begin.
The Argument…
Ladies, we all have many horror stories to share about our quests to attain fabulous hair, right? Over the years, I’ve purchased a countless amount of hair care products costing nothing short of a small fortune. In fact I’ve spent so much money on the stuff that I could have easily purchased a small island in the Bahamas by now. I mean, you should see all the hair care products I have in my bathroom. I may as well open a beauty supply store and call it Nikka’s Stuff; which by the way is open Monday thru Friday from 10a-6p and most weekends. 😀 Seriously, I’ve become very desperate in my seemingly endless search to find a great product that simply works, and one that’s not going to take money out of my Bahamas Isle coffer. 😀 You see, I have a daughter whose hair I begrudgingly style each and every morning. It’s such a daunting task in itself, but then there’s the frustration of doing it over and over again with the many different products that simply do not hold up and/or simply do not work. Her hair, which is naturally curly and nearly waist length, frizzes up like a lion’s mane by the end of the day, no matter how much work I put into styling it in the morning. Arrrrgh!!!
But before I tell you about how I discovered a way to tame the beast that is my daughter’s hair, let’s rewind this story a bit.
While attending the Naturals Girls Rock event, I met Jeannell Darden who is the CEO of Coco Curls, an all natural hair cream for natural hair styles. Jeannell explained that Coco Curls is designed to help retain the moisture in your hair while giving your hair that spirally and springy look. I expressed to her the difficulties I’d been having with my daughter’s hair, so she gave me a jar of her Coco Curls cream to try.
The Trial…
Sunday is the designated hair washing day at my home, so I thought that this would be the perfect time to try Coco Curls. I washed, conditioned and combed my daughter’s hair as I always do. However, while her hair was still wet I applied the Coco Curls hair cream just as the instructions called for. Here’s a step-by-step video of me applying Coco Curls to my daughter’s hair:
The Deliberation…
So, shortly afterwards she headed off to bed with the Coco Curls cream still in her hair. The next morning it was time to take down the twists from her hair. As I began to unravel her hair I was sooo amazed at the results! Not only were her curls defined, but they were very very soft.
Hmmm… So what IS this stuff made of? Well, Coco Curls contains all natural ingredients such as Aloe Vera Juice, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, Coconut Oil, Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate, Hydroxypropyl trimonium Honey, Lactobacillus Ferment, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil (and) Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract, Dehydroxanthan Gum, Fragrance Oils.
Ok Coco Curls. Now you have my attention. But the true test will be when my daughter arrives from school, because typically her hair is a complete mess by afternoon. But, to my surprise the curls were still intact, her hair still had a beautiful shine, and there was no “frizzy” thing happenin.
TheVerdict…
The very next morning I repeated the process by applying a quarter size amount to her hair in the morning, brushing the fly-aways, and then done! (For the sake of not revealing my sheer glee before the final verdict, I will try to keep my joy under wraps for a little while longer…but let me tell you that it’s tough! 😀 ) The mere notion of no more losing the morning hair battles and no more afternoon blowouts is enough for me to break out in sheer pandemonium. I mean, before I was using 3+ products each day to help manage her hair, and now I’d only need one product!? (queue the epiphany) This would not only save me time AND money, but I wouldn’t have to use so many unhealthy and harsh chemicals in her hair.
So, what’s the final verdict?
Did Coco Curls make my daughter’s hair look fab?
GUILTY AS CHARGED!!!
Coco Curls; you are hereby sentenced to our hair indefinitely, with sentencing to begin immediately! 😉
Just the facts ma’am…
Recently I was invited to an intimate natural hair discussion dubbed Coco Curls & Conversation, which was hosted by Jeannell of Coco Curls along with celebrity/natural hair stylist April B. Held at the chic Celebrity Hair Salon in Castleberry Hills, the event featured very poignant discussion on a variety of topics related to Jeannell’s own personal experiences while transitioning to natural hair. She explained that her motivation for creating Coco Curls grew out of frustration from the lack of products that were available for natural hair back when she decided to make her transition in the mid 90’s. Jeannell also touched on various ways to help maintain natural hair, and the importance of using products that work FOR and not against your hair. During the event Jeannell also “covered” protective styling techniques, the types of essential oils that are great for natural hair, as well as how to care for and treat your hair. Jeannell also let us in on several new and upcoming products such as a line of shampoo, conditioner, and a refresher spray slated for release this year. Yeah!!! I can’t wait to get my hair, er hands on these new products. 😀
The workshop was absolutely FREE to all, and in return guests were asked to bring an item to be donated to local women’s and children’s shelters. Wonderful!!!
Guests of the event were not only treated to informative and useful advice, but they witnessed a live demonstration of how to perform a two strand twist by stylist April B.
Delicious cupcakes, beautiful jewelry and fab giveaways were just a few of the goodies on hand for guests, as well as a fun hair trivia game that rivaled the likes of The Family Feud! 😀
The event was filled with fabulous women who rocked all types of fabulous natural hair styles, and I had a great time listening to the many stories and personal journeys that were shared about transitioning into natural hair. Because of my own experiences with mine and my daughter’s hair, I could easily relate to the struggles, the frustrations, and the difficulties of finding products within the natural hair care market that actually work. Well, I can personally attest to the fact that Coco Curls does just that…it REALLY WORKS! Oh, and it smells heavenly too! 😉
Thank you Jeannell for introducing me to your wonderful product in Coco Curls; my daughter absolutely LOVES it! I look forward to seeing you at Fro Fashion Week next month. Ladies, give Coco Curls a try….you can thank me later! 😉
Court is now adjourned.
