Marsala – 2015's Hottest Hue

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

Pantone has recently released their pick for this years color of the year – marsala. While this color has received some heat since it has been announced, there are many ways to fall in love with this years color. Celebrities like Beyonce and Kylie Jenner have been showing some love to marsala, and it has slowly been gaining a following. Fan or not, you can always just pour a tall glass of red wine and be right on trend!

Sweatshirt: Victoria's Secret // Lipstick: Laura Mercier Dulce de Leche // Skirt: JCrew // Mug: Crate & Barrel // Scarf: Topshop // Candle: Voluspa

A bold, reddish hue, marsala brings warmth to any room, outfit, or make-up look. Not to mention it's a perfect hue to combat those cold winter days. I think this color is very subtly sexy and is such a versatile color. One of the reasons I am getting on marsala's side is because you can easily add it to any aspect of your life. One way to start shopping this color is beauty. It is the perfect color this time of year for lip sticks, nail polishes, and eye shadows. Sephora has teamed up with Pantone to bring you tons of ways to wear marsala, so check out their list of goodies before you head out to shop. You can also add it to your outfit either by going all out with something like a skirt, or a little more subtly with some accessories. Not ready to start adding marsala to your everyday look? Start warming up to it by throwing some marsala pillows around the house or getting a few coffee mugs. It looks great paired with neutral tones, purples, and even greens, so it will look great in any home.

How do you add this years color into your life?

Cold Weather Style: Sweater Dresses

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

Top row: H&M, Athleta // Bottom row: Madewell, BCBG

Just because the temperatures may have dropped and we are all bundling up a bit more doesn't mean we still can't wear a dress. If you are planning to come out of your Netflix coma this weekend, a sweater dress is a top choice, no matter what you are going for. Super cozy while still being chic, sweater dresses are perfect because you can dress them up or down.

Planning a trip to the mall? Throw a sweater dress over some leggings and boots and you can shop all day long. Got a hot date? Pair a sweater dress with some knee-high boots and thigh-high socks and you are sure to stun. Need a night out? A sweater dress with some fun tights and heels will prepare you for whatever the night may bring.

Spread the Love

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

It always seems fly by, but the holiday season is a time to push aside the hustle and bustle from our daily lives and take in every scent and twinkle. With this season you can expect gift giving, cooking, and spreading love while being with the ones you love. With the holidays upon us, there is no better feeling than picking out the perfect gift for the special people in your life, but this time of year can also be quite stressful. Here are some reminders that some of us may forget during this busy time of year in order to de-stress and prioritize.

  1. Start early. There is nothing worse than getting down to the wire and having to do last minute shopping in the overcrowded and lower stocked malls, so start earlier in the month so you can slowly put all of your ducks in a row before the holidays sneak up on you.
  2. Take some TLC time for yourself. We are constantly surrounded by people during this month, so it is a must to take some time aside to spoil yourself and put your mind at ease.
  3. Focus on what's important. Sometimes we can get caught up in all the gifts and get-togethers, but taking a little time to remember why we are doing all of this planning in the first place really helps put things in perspective.
  4. Give back. There is no better time to get in the spirit of giving than around the holidays. So start spreading the joy to yourself and others by giving back, volunteering, or preforming small acts of kindness to make a big impact on somebody else's life. Update Your Look Instantly With Accessories

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

In order to stay on trend (and sane, for that matter) with the ever-changing fashion trends, it is critical to understand where to splurge and where to save, lest you empty your bank account each and every season with every new item you can get your hands on. Even if money is no object to you, being selective on what you buy is the key differentiator between the truly stylish set and the fashion victim. Hoarding stuff should never be the goal. Buying with discerning taste, on the other hand, should be.

The good news for those of us with a finite amount of funds is quite possibly the easiest way to continuously update your look and stand out from the crowds is with eye-catching accessories. Be it a colorful bag, fun sunglasses, luxurious fur, a trendy but understated sneaker, or a statement ring, choose what truly speaks to your personal style, and incorporate it into your favorite go-to looks.

Sleek Up Your Look With Sequins

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

Hello Fashion Lovers,

One thing I love about the sequin trend is the fact that you can wear anything shiny, bright or over the top and get away with it. I love wearing classic silhouettes with fun textures, prints, and studs. Even for my everyday outfits, I find myself dressing up a bit more by wearing sequin covered dress shirts and studded heels. It's the perfect look for daily activities during the late winter months into spring. Of course, you can always pair the statement pieces with simple, classic basics like this sleek scuba skirt from Topshop at Nordstrom or a pleated solid skirt from Macy*s

I even find myself accessorizing and styling up a bit more by wearing jeweled watches and brighter lipstick. There's just something about the dreary weather that always allows us to be more bold and bright! Even if you aren't a very festive person, you can always dress up with fun shaped clutches, bold colored lipstick, and fun heels! Be sure to stop by The Shops at Mission Viejo and the Brea Mall to grab your favorite pieces.

Fellow Style Mavens!

We are well into the second half of January and what a fast start to 2015 it's been! It's the time of year for resolutions and many of us have added fitness to that long list of things we'd like to accomplish this year. Whether it be training for a 5K or beating personal bests, nothing is better than fresh styles and new gym gear to get us motivated to actually workout!

When the skies are grey and temps drop below zero I'm left feeling more like cozying up on the couch with a hot chocolate than hitting the gym. But… one of my top strategies for getting going is to search out new, fun and brightly colored gym gear.

Athleta's latest additions are just what we're craving for a good kick-start in 2015. See below for my top picks of the New Year and get yourself in gear and stick to your fitness resolutions!

1.  Sentry Hoody Sweatshirt in Coralade, Chain Print Chi Tank, Crux Capri

2.  Chi Mesh Tank in Silver Shimmer, City Be True Pant

3. Sentry Sweatshirt, Chi Tank, Chain Be Free Knicker

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

Hello Fashionistas,

It's time to gear up for the colder days here in California! It seems like we've finally settled in to winter, granted it's a couple months too late but we'll take it either way. I've been pulling my Winter favorites from department stores like Macy*s and Nordstrom, all with stores at the The Shops at Mission Viejo and Brea Mall locations, as well as other Simon Mall locations. These key pieces are perfect for the California winter since you can easily layer, and switch out each item for something warmer or even cooler!

I'm currently a huge fan of thigh high boots and there's nothing more classic  than a simple navy & white dress.  So, of course I fell in love with this thigh high and stripes pairing, topped off with an embellished hat, a good book and your favorite signature fragrance! All items are available at Nordstrom and Macy's locations, so head on over to your nearest Simon Malls location and warm up this season with these essential winter pieces for the on coming colder days in January and February!

My Scent Wardrobe from Jo Malone London at Saks

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

Fellow Style Mavens,

Many times we believe in the notion that we should have a signature scent, the one and only and that’s it, always staying loyal and true to the one singular fragrance… but I think that fragrance is part of a person’s style and it should be thought of like your wardrobe. You should find a different scent for each mood and feel you’re wanting to express. After all, don't we all want to be a little mysterious?
With this idea in mind, I’ve wafted my way through the entire collection of Jo Malone London at Saks in The Fashion Mall at Keystone to find and share with you my essentials and I've matched a scent to a classic look in my style book; read on:
T-shirt, casual: soft, subtle, sweet and not overwhelming. A relaxed vibe – Wild Bluebell a dewy, luminous, delicate fragrance by itself or mix with Nectarine Blossom & Honey a Succulent , Sweet, Playful feel.
LBD, party ready: heady and sensual, rich and luxurious. Bergamot adds the sparkle here – Oud & Bergamot a Hypnotic, Mysterious, and Alluring fragrance mix this with Wood Sage and Sea Salt a enwrapping, joyful, Subtle fragrance.

Suit, serious business: work time needs a straightforward and crisp scent that's fresh and not flirty but Zesty – Wood Sage & Sea Salt or the classic Grapefruit for a citrus pick-me-up!

If you're feeling like you're stuck with a case of the winter blues, then finding a new fragrance or two can be very uplifting and not only for you, but for those around you too! So treat yourself to the new you and find your scent wardrobe at The Fashion Mall at Keystone!

Bisous bisous

Spring 2015 Trend Report

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

It feels like just yesterday we were lusting over the grandeur that is Fashion Week, and the dazzling garments that graced the runways of New York, London, Paris, and Milan. Now there’s snow on the ground and holiday shopping has taken top priority for many of us. With spring fashion, we will see some current trends ongoing, as well as some exciting new takes on old ones. That in itself seems to be a big trend, maybe as a backlash to the backlash against fast-fashion.  Designers want to keep things worth buying, so perhaps keeping a trend going is the smartest thing to do. If that is the case, I heartily agree.

Some of my personal favorite hot trends for Spring 2015 are fringe, bohemian maxi gowns, and pastel outerwear. Fringe on anything and everything including bags, shoes, and apparel. Bohemian pairs nicely with fringe, so it makes perfect sense why the 70’s style maxi gowns were seen on the likes of designers Etro and Emilio Pucci. For outerwear, look towards pretty pastels for your go-to like Burberry Prorsum and Miu Miu did. If nothing else, it will match the sun and flowers that we are all longing for at the moment.

Can’t wait until spring to get in on the latest trends? Here is a bit of inspiration you can find now and wear later, too. Happy shopping!
