My Kia Chronicles: I’m Soul’d!

Earlier this year I had the chance to take a spankin new Kia Sorento out for a spin and capture all of the fun in My Kia Chronicles. A simple test drive… Sounds easy enough, right?! Well, let’s just say that the Sorento got a taste of just how far from simple my life can get. Let’s see; we attended a Middle School orchestra performance… a Skatepark grand opening event… we grabbed a bite to eat at the local café… did a little ice skating… attended the Nutcracker ballet… got all dolled up for a photo shoot… caught a movie premiere… went for a night out on the town… attended a fabulous fashion show with Clinton Kelly… AND celebrated my birthday/anniversary in grand style. Wheeeew!!! Well, needless to say, the Kia Sorento was definitely up to the task and handled a week of my busy life with ease. So, when I got a chance to do it all over again with another Kia, I was Soul’d! The cool new Kia Soul was next up to boogie oogie with this blogger, and after a far-out adventure this summer I must say that this baby was loads of fun and Dyn-o-mite! 😉

LEGO® KidsFest: The Biggest Block Party… EVER!!!

There’s something for everyone at LEGO® KidsFest.

This year Atlanta’s young and young at heart flocked to The Cobb Galleria Centre at Cumberland to experience the fabulous world of LEGO® at KidsFest. Upon entering you are instantly overwhelmed as there are LEGO-inspired activities as far as the eye can see. It was like you had just entered into a giant playroom where the only limits were your own imagination. In the heart of the fun is a colossal pile of LEGO® bricks where kids played and adults found it hard to not join in on the fun. Throughout the event there were incredible life-sized models of larger-than-life superheroes and movies characters that all seemed to come to life. From Darth Vader to Disney characters… you name it, and it’s a sure bet that LEGO® has built it! There’s even an Art Gallery where creative-crafters showcased their LEGO-inspired artwork on a fabulous wall. Soo cool!

I attended the LEGO® KidsFest opening event with my hubby and daughter and we had a wonderful time! My hubby and I spent most the time reminiscing about all of the #LEGOfun we experienced as kids. We were both in complete amazement, and for a brief moment we found ourselves lost in wonderment at how much LEGO® has changed since our childhood days. Kinda makes you wish you were a kid again.

Pure Horse Play Hosts 1st Annual Independence Day Outdoor Concert

As the country prepares to celebrate the nation’s birthday, Pure Horse Play, a premiere equestrian center in Atlanta announces their 1st Annual Independence Day Outdoor Concert. The outdoor specialty event will take place on Saturday July 5th on Pure Horse Play’s 13 acre property complete with with vendors, face painters, kiddie games, firework show, a concert, and of course horseback riding. Pure Horse Play is Atlanta’s newest equestrian facility offering services from horseback riding lessons to romantic sunset picnics for couples. Owner Michelle Phillips, who runs the facility with her four daughters, says the outdoor family focused event is a gesture of customer appreciation and of course a great way to introduce newbies to the horseback riding experience. “Our facility promotes a family environment and we try to give people the opportunity to get an up close and personal experience with the horses. “We’ve had amazing feedback so far and we’re looking to welcome new riders every day!”

The main event concert will showcase some of Atlanta’s hottest talent; opening with the sassy self-proclaimed Princess of Suburban Misfits, Kissie Lee performing her buzz-driven single, “Shout to my Ex”. Next up is Latina songbird Cristina Quinones known for her high energy performances, Cristina has been featured on BET, MTV and many more. She is a regional favorite and a highly anticipated addition to the lineup. Headliners include hot new girl group Havok Jones. The wild, crazy, weird, fun, classy, lady-like combination of talent has just begun their voyage to the top. Closing out the night is Epic Records R&B soul crooner Curtis Fields. The young artist got his big break when he performed in front of A & R VP of Epic Records Ray Daniels. From then he was signed to Epic Records and has perform his hit single “Opposites Attract” on the 2013 BET Awards only using his iPhone and various shows like The View and The Queen Latifah Show. Fields brings a new sound to R & B through technology.

Pure Horse Play: A True Family Affair

Recently my family and I were invited to attend a sunset picnic at Atlanta’s newest equestrian center called Pure Horse Play. Now anyone who knows me knows that I’m a country girl… It’s true. Get me out in the open air, on a few acres of land, with majestic views all around, and you can count me absent from the rest of the world…if only for a little while anyways. I hadn’t gone horseback riding since I was a kid, so I was super excited to go on this adventure since most of my ‘adventuring’ these days involves having both heels firmly planted on solid ground. Well needless to say I couldn’t wait to get back into the saddle again. So upon arriving at Pure Horse Play I was thinking that I’d have fun reminiscing while riding a few horses. I quickly discovered that Pure Horse Play was NOT your ordinary equestrian experience.

The passion of owner Michelle Phillips with assistance from her three lovely daughters Jayla, Jordyn, and Brittany, Pure Horse Play is a TRUE family affair. Sitting on over 13 acres of gorgeous rolling hillsides and shade tree escapes, Pure Horse Play offers a host of amenities to ‘stir-up’ any saddle lover’s excitement. This family owned facility has ‘wrangled-up’ several packages for its guests that include horseback riding, seasonal camps, and equestrian teams to name a few. In addition to camps and riding coaching, PHP offers custom concierge services for those looking to create a more personal ranch-style experience. From cowboy-style weddings to private parties, from camp-outs to romantic picnics, Pure House Play is definitely an equestrian adventure. PHP also provides its guests with many signature events such as their Sunset Picnic and a fabulous hillside tasting featuring sumptuous sips & sweets.

Phillips kicked off the event by introducing each of the horses to guests. And after hearing the history of each horse and how they were acquired I knew that Pure Horse Play was something special. Phillips explained that many of the horses at Pure Horse Play were on the brink of certain death having been neglected and malnourished by their previous owners. It was so touching to hear how Michelle and her daughters nursed each of them back to life with lots of love, care, and attention and how the horses have responded in loyalty and gratitude. All of the horses were absolutely beautiful, but one in particular galloped right into my heart, and her name was Ms. Hollywood. With her glamorous golden locks, Ms. Hollywood was the star of the show. She reminded me so much of my lovely childhood friend Flicker. You see, when I was a child I had a fabulous horse named Flicker that I absolutely adored. I’d spend countless hours grooming and petting Flicker while sharing endless stories with him. I’m sure Flicker got more than an earful because I was definitely a chatterbox back then. I know personally how these wonderful animals can leave a lasting impression on the lives of others as having Flicker made such an impact on me. Phillips attested to the positive effect that these horses have made on her campers’… “We know that riding and caring for horses is therapy for children and adults. We have seen a difference in students when they start at Pure Horse Play compared to after a few lessons. It really teaches responsibility and allows children to connect on a level they aren’t often exposed to today,” Phillips states. She explained how many children with disabilities and even autistic children have shown great progress when exposed to horses.

Phillips even shared her very own personal trials and triumphs and how Pure Horse Play was her saving grace. I was so inspired by her story. After leaving Pure Horse Play I felt refreshed and renewed and ready to take on the city! …with my cowgirl boots on of course. 😉
