Atlanta Ballet’s Nutcracker returns in grand style!

Nothing invokes the magic of the holidays like The Nutcracker, and for more than 120 years, Tchaikovsky’s enchanting musical tale of a young girl’s adventure with her handsome Nutcracker Prince has captured the hearts of millions. And just as audiences have been captivated by this time-honored tale for well over a century, the Atlanta Ballet’s adaptation of this beloved story is nothing short of fantastic!

Choreographed by Artistic Director John McFall, and in its 54^th staging of this holiday classic, the Atlanta Ballet has masterfully captured the essence of this storied tale and delivered it with renewed fervor to Atlanta theatergoers. Each year the production team adds new elements to the storyline, and true to tradition this year’s production features unexpectedly welcomed surprises courtesy of Drew Thomas, professional illusionist and finalist on America’s Got Talent, who lends his talents to this season’s performance as he takes on the role of the mysterious Drosselmeyer the first two weeks, December 6-15. With singing in Act I’s “Snow Scene” by Georgia Youth Choir, Live music by The Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, along with wonderful choreography and stellar performances by the Atlanta Ballet company, the audience is treated to an exhilarating adventure through the magical world of the Nutcracker.

I had the pleasure of attending this magnificent show last year and I must say that it was simply and utterly delightful. From the beautiful set design, to the gorgeous costumes and the graceful dancing, Atlanta Ballet’s Nutcracker conjures up an exciting journey of enchantment from beginning to end. Everything was so nostalgic and colorful; I felt like I’d been transported back in time and into a magical Winter Wonderland as the tapestry of each scene vividly carried the story. The special effects that were incorporated during the performance further added wonderful surprises throughout. For instance, snowflakes unexpectedly fell upon the audience to signify the outdoors scenes, further drawing the audience into the performance. Subtle touches like this were charming and enticed the audience with an anticipation of what additional surprises lay ahead. I can’t wait to see what Master Illusionist Drew Thomas has “up his sleeve” for this years performance. The choreography was simply outstanding as each of the dancers delivered inspired performances resulting in a rousing experience for all.

So whether you’re experiencing the magic for the first time or continuing an annual tradition, Atlanta Ballet’s Nutcracker is a definite must attend event for the entire family.

The Best Man Holiday opens in theaters TODAY!!!

They’re baaack! After nearly 15 years apart, and just in time for the holidays, The Best Man Holiday is the next chapter to the long-awaited Best Man sequel. The Best Man Holiday opens in theaters nationwide TODAY, and theater-goers everywhere are excited to relive all of the fun—all over again. The Best Man Holiday features Lance (Morris Chestnut), Harper (Taye Diggs), Quentin (Terrence Howard), Robin (Sanaa Lathan), Jordan (Nia Long), Julian (Harold Perrineau), Mia (Monica Calhoun), Shelby (Melissa de Sousa) and Candy (Regina Hall), who finally reunite over the Christmas holidays and discover just how easy it is for long-forgotten rivalries and romances to be ignited.

I had the pleasure of attending a pre-screening of The Best Man Holiday a few days ago and I must say that it was definitely worth the wait. The storyline was superb—it’s as if Holiday picks up right where the original left off. The Best Man Holiday is filled with laughter, love, emotion, and plenty of unexpected surprises. I plan on seeing this fabulous film again (and again—and who knows 😉 ).

Spoiler Alert: The Best Man Holiday is better than the original. There… I said it!!! #boldprediction Oh, and not to worry guys; it’s not a “chick flick”. 😉

ReSnap: ROC the Night at ROC House Fitness Spa

Recently I had the pleasure of hosting a fabulously fit & fun event called ROC the Night at ROC House Fitness Spa. ROC House is Atlanta’s newest and hottest workout wonderland for Ladies Only! That’s right ladies! Now we have a place where we can get fit, get fabulous, and get pampered all under one roof. ROC House offers a host of diva worthy amenities like a retail boutique, a full service salon and nail bar, a relaxing spa, a juice bar and organic café, and a diverse array of cardio-driven workout classes complete with personal trainers, all housed in a luxurious state-of-the-art facility that’s truly fit for a queen. I must say that ROC House is by far THE most fabulous place to get fit!

Ok, so for my ROC the Night soiree I invited several ladies to join me for a fun night of primping, pampering, fist pumps, and pilates. 😛 And trust me when I say that several days later I could STILL #feeltheburn thanks to our workout instructor Takeela (aka the “Cardio Queen”). 😉 But our rigorous workout (and I emphasize rigorous) was just a warm-up for our fun-filled night as ROC House rolled up the workout mats and rolled out the pink carpet for this fabulous affair. In addition to a guided tour of the facility the ladies sipped mimosas, enjoyed healthy nibbles from the organic café, along with massages and nail polish refreshers, and much needed moments of relaxation in the ROC Spa and Zen Lounge. Oh, there were also several fab giveaways and we each received glam gifts and goodies from ROC House. Thanks to the fab Miranda, Sarah, Sineta, Kimberly, and Takeela for a first-class experience at ROC House. We had such a wonderful time and will definitely be back! By the end of the night I couldn’t tell which had my heart-rate the highest— that grueling workout or that gorgeous facility! #takeyourpick

Guy’s Grocery Games Challenge to take place in Atlanta

Hey Atlantans,

Local contestants are being served up a challenge in celebration of Food Network’s new supermarket-themed cooking competition, Guy’s Grocery Games. Hosted by best-selling cookbook author and successful restaurateur Guy Fieri, Grocery Games is set in a grocery store where four talented chefs compete against each other through three cooking challenges, as they must navigate their way through the aisles adhering to a number of “real-world” culinary challenges to create tasty dishes. The chefs must rely on their improvisation, gamesmanship and culinary skills for a chance to win up to $20,000.

The local challenge will take place on Saturday, November 9 at 1:00pm at The Fresh Market, located at 1205 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, GA 30068. Four local contestants will be given up to three challenges to test their shopping and culinary expertise. The winner of the local challenge will receive a $1,000 gift card from The Fresh Market.

Kicks 101.5 and AtlantaEats.com will have details on how to be selected as one of the four lucky contestants who will battle it out at The Fresh Market for a chance to bring home the grand prize and the bragging rights of being the local champion of “Guy’s Grocery Games Challenge.”

It’s not just your clothes that make an impact this season. Your makeup has a lot to do with your overall appeal. Which colors are sure to be in high demand? Here are some of the best cosmetic choices for fall so you’re sure to look great from head-to-toe.

Lips: Red, red and more red! It doesn’t get much simpler, or more classic than this. We’re not talking maybe red, either; this red is bold and in-your-face. You can’t go wrong with a color like [1] MAC Red. It’s a true red that flatters all skin tones. Want an even deeper hue? Wine isn’t just for drinking; it’s also the color of the moment for lips. [2] Volga by NARS is a perfect pick. Remember: matte for day and glossy for night.

Eyes: We’re bringing sexy back! The cat eye look is hot for fall, so pull out your favorite black eyeliner and practice. You want clean lines that extend just past your outer lid for maximum drama. Choose an eyeliner like [3]STILA’s Smudge Stick for all-day perfection. For something a bit more fun, glitter eye shadow is also on autumn’s radar, but naturally, save the metallics for nighttime.

When the college friends finally reunite over the Christmas holidays, they will discover just how easy it is for long-forgotten rivalries and romances to be ignited. Opening in theaters just in time for Thanksgiving, The Best Man Holiday will no doubt be the “best” movie this holiday season.

There were sooo many hilarious moments in the original film that it’s difficult to single out just one. Let’s see, there’s the infamous “forehead kiss”, and who can forget the moment when Lance’s imagination nearly gets the best worst of him at the altar as his bride-to-be stands before him. OMG it was classic!!! I’m so excited to see the cast reconnect, reunite, and relive the fun all over again. I know you are just as excited and eager to see this film as I am, so why should we wait any longer?
