Nikka Shae - The Haute Star

Hey Diva’s,

I’m in a music video! Yeah!!! And in case you were wondering, I’m not quitting my day job… So now everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. 😀 But, I’m kinda liking this video-thingy a little bit….Who knows, this may be the first of many more to come. 🙂

Nikka Shae - Living her dreams

Nikka Shae - Living her dreams

Why a music video you ask? Well, I thought I’d show everyone just how much fun I’m having on this blessed and amazing journey, and also to express my gratitude  and thankfulness for having had the opportunity to work with such incredible people along the way.

Thank you to LeBaron Marks of Marks Media for bringing this vision into reality and creating a wonderful masterpiece. The amazing Robin Marshall of RobinLori Photography for capturing life’s events and turning them into works of art. Big hugs to LaTanya Vaughn of Material Girl Boutique for allowing us to crash her boutique for the day, and for use of that gaw-jus blouse. Her clothing and accessories are utterly “faint-worthy”… You don’t know how difficult it was for me to leave. 😀 Thanks to the fab Kim Wilkins and Dawn Reil of Polished & Primped Nail Bar and Boutique for being such gracious hosts. I felt a “full-on head-tilting-back twirl” brought on by all the fabulous clothing and accessories at P&P. 🙂 Smooches to Shalawn “The Beauty Architect” Willis for making me look and feel like a true diva. Trust me when I say that this girl is B-A-A-A-A-D! And, thanks to my wonderful hubby Jason for always standing firmly by my side. I could not do any of this without you! I love you so so much!

Nikka Shae - The Haute Star

Nikka Shae - The Haute Star

When I embarked on this journey nearly one year ago I could not have envisioned the amount of fulfillment that this experience would bring into my life. I’d have to say that this journey has had its share of exhilarating moments, fabulous experiences; as well I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some of the most amazing people along the way. I feel so overwhelmed at times because I know that I have truly been blessed by each and every one of them. I believe that we are all put into each others lives for the purpose of serving as a gift to one another; and I can only hope to reciprocate unto others in gratitude.

I knew from the beginning that this is what I wanted to do…where I wanted to be. And contrary to popular belief, Miss Cleo is NOT a close relative of mine. 😀 So, I cannot foresee the future and what lies ahead of me, but I am certain that as I navigate this dream of mine, YOU all are the fuel that drives me.

So, without further ado… ROLL IT!!! I hope you enjoy! ♥♥♥♥♥

Some habits are simply too haute to break!

Haute Habits by Stone Savant Jewelry

Hey Divas,

Reunited and it feels sooo good! :-P

Reunited and it feels sooo good! 😛

OK. I’m just gonna jump right out there and say it…I’m in love! Yes ladies it’s true. I’ve been smitten into full-blown rapture by Stone Savant Jewelry and I can no longer contain my feelings for this fabulous collection. ♥ ♥ ♥ You see, everyone knows that I have an affinity for fabulous jewelry, but, what many don’t know is that placing me within arms (or neck) reach of haute accessories is like dangling a baby rattle in front of a two month old. 😀 I know I know…its pretty bad, but hey every girl has her vice, and mine just so happens to be Stone Savant jewelry. There…I said it. 😀

But before I’m served with a restraining order, 😛 let me tell you how my adoration for this fabulous collection of handcrafted jewelry came about…

Earlier this year I was invited by Janelle Langford of Urban Suite PR to attended a photo shoot for the launch of Stone Savant’s Spring 2012 collection and I immediately fell in love with the collection. I mean, the pieces are absolutely stunning and they will definitely turn a head or two when you enter a room! Aptly named “Rock Steady” with borrowed cues from “Rock & Roll” music classics, this fabulous collection features a mixture of amethyst, ametrine, and citrine (My Girl), labradorite (Shot Through the Heart), lapis lazuli cubes (September), pink opal nuggets (Dream On), iolite (Dock of the Bay), agate slices (Purple Haze), gold-plated amethyst slices (Is This Love), African opal (Bad to the Bone), amethyst studs (Uptown Girl), and rubies (Red Corvette). And just like Prince’s saucy hit “Little Red Corvette” each piece in the collection audaciously takes you on a thrill ride of which you are a willing and eager passenger.

And if the photo shoot wasn’t enough, just last month Stone Savant and Oh! Nikka teamed up for a grand giveaway that we dubbed Bling into Spring where one lucky Diva won a fabulous necklace from Stone Savant’s “Rock Steady” collection, instantly thrusting her into friend-envy status (which includes myself of course). 😉

Well, as fate would have it, Stone Savant’s designer and creator, Danielle C. Hinton, was showcasing the collection for her Haute Habits trunk show, so I made sure to clear my calendar because I did not want to miss it.

K-La Boutique

K-La Boutique

The trunk show was held at the ultra trendy K-La Boutique in Phipps Plaza in Atlanta to an excited crowd who were anxious to see the collection. Guests enjoyed an assortment of refreshments, several wine choices, and decadent cocktail inspired cupcakes by Cocktail Cupcakes, while the DJ spun the hautest tracks.

Ladies, if you’ve never been to K-La Boutique you don’t know what you’re missing! Let’s just say that you should definitely add K-La to your short list of go-to boutiques. K-La has a fabulous collection of handbags, accessories, and one-of-a-kind pieces that you won’t find anywhere else. I had my eye on this fabulous cross-weaved handbag that had me “crossing” my fingers in the hopes that “someone” would think this to be a great surprise for Mother’s Day… Oh hubby… 😉 K-La’s selections feature a mixture of styles from designers in Los Angeles and New York, and their pieces are affordably priced which will no doubt keep my wallet (and my hubby) happy. And K-La has several locations throughout Atlanta so I will definitely be stopping by again very soon!

Hinton. Thanks Janelle and Danielle for the invite… I look forward to seeing what Stone Savant has in-store for the coming seasons. I can’t wait!

I must say that each time I view this fabulous collection it feels just like the first time, so as you can imagine, any time this gallery-worthy collection shows around Atlanta I am definitely gonna be there. After all, you only get to have one first love, right! 😉

Last but not least there was the “What’s in a blog?” discussion featuring Kerrie “Virtuous Styls” Cooke and yours truly! Yep, you heard me right! I was a featured panelist alongside Ms. Kerrie the VirtuousOne. 🙂 During our segment Kerrie shared her tips-and-tricks on looking fab on a budget, discovering the best in thrifty fashion, and chic beauty finds around Atlanta, and I offered the attendees some insight into how I find the hautest events around town. As you can imagine I was on cloud ninety-nine as I was so grateful for the opportunity to speak alongside this group of esteemed ladies; and since this was my very first experience as a panelist I wanted to make sure I didn’t look like a cooked goose up there in front of the audience. 🙂 Overall I think I did pretty good with my segment, and I’m also proud to say that no tomatoes were hurled or harmed during my speech. 😀 I definitely picked up a wealth of useful information from all of the featured panelists and everyone did a fabulous job.

Attendees mixed and mingled over an assortment of delish delicacies, scrumptious appetizers, and Iwi Fresh signature fresh fruit non alcoholic natural-tinis. De-lish!!! Guests also shopped season worthy and trendy fashions, and were treated to a competition where makeup artists battled for the title of best 5-minute Spring face. Attendees also got a jumpstart on their Spring wardrobe with select jewelry, fashion, and accessory by vendors such as T.Marie of Carisma Designs who brought some of her amazing handcrafted jewelry (I absolutely looove her pieces), Deborah Simon of Simon Creative Center who had some fabulous beaded, crystal, and gemstone pieces, and “racks upon racks upon racks” of thrifted goodies.

Guests also indulged in some of the most decadent goodies around from chocolatier and artisan Yvonne Villani of Candy by Request who made these amazing chocolate inspired creations that had my jaw dropping in both wonderment and anticipation of them reaching my mouth. 😉 Trust me that was one of the few times you’ll find me absolutely speechless. 😛  Guests were also treated to manis and pedis, facials, and massages courtesy of Iwi Fresh Garden Day Spa (fka Pampered Nail and Body Spa) located in the super trendy Castleberry Hills district where the event was befittingly held. I had the pleasure of visiting Iwi Fresh while attending a three region Tweetup during the Fall, and I had such a wonderful time during the event. Spa owner Yolanda Owens has created an amazing experience at Iwi Fresh with its tranquil ambiance and fabulous Asian inspired décor, and OMG the comfy seating…let’s just say that my hind-quarters were very thankful by night’s end (LOL). In fact I was in such a relaxed state that I was a mere nod or two away from a full-on coma. 🙂

Brown bagging the bargains at Bloomingdale’s

Bloomingdale's Sip, Shop, and Save event

A few weeks ago I was invited to a fabulous night of shopping and savings at Lenox  Square for Bloomingdale’s Sip, Shop, and Save friends and family savings event. This private-by-invite event launched Bloomingdale’s Spring collection just days before their general public sale and let me tell you that it was definitely one to remember. I’d attended several soirees at Bloomingdale’s in the past so I was super excited as I always have a great time during their hosted events, and I also always seem to leave them with a “big brown bag” filled with something from their haute heel collection.

Theo Tyson of Trinity Productions and Saniyyah 'Sunny' Griffin of Sahar Creative

Theo Tyson of Trinity Productions and Saniyyah 'Sunny' Griffin of Sahar Creative

My invite to this exclusive event came by courtesy of the amazing Theo Tyson of Trinity Productions and Saniyyah “Sunny” Griffin, owner of Sahar Creative and all around dazzling diva! I had the pleasure of meeting Miss Saniyyah a while back, and right off the bat I could sense her warm and inviting spirit. I found out that this particular night just so happened to be Sunny’s birthday, so now the scene was set for a fabulous evening of “Diva deals”, “Bella bargains”, “chic shopping”, and plenty of celebrating! 😛

The event showcased the unveiling of Bloomingdale’s Spring collection of which event-goers received a 20% off savings for the eve. Their Spring collection was amazing and it sent me into a buying binge the likes of which had not been seen since the Super Sale of 76’. 🙂  So while I was in the midst of my epic shopping spree, I had to take a moment to indulge in some of the other guilty pleasures such as the custom cocktails by Ultimat Vodka and the amazing variety of decadent delights courtesy of Chef Courtney Renn. And if things couldn’t get any tastier, the event was held inside Bloomingdale’s shoe department (which I affectionately refer to as “heel heaven”); AND the first 50 guests to arrive received a premium gift bag filled with an assortment of glam goodies such as a cute tufted makeup case, a compact brush, and coupons for even more savings! #WINNING!!!

The Los Angeles Fashion Council Launches Online Store with Support from ASOS Marketplace

Le Shoppe - Los Angeles Fashion Council

The Los Angeles Fashion Council was founded in October 2011 to elevate Los Angeles fashion design by creating a platform for presentation on local, national and international levels, as well as by providing education, funding and support.

Whilst the rest of the world thinks we’re all flip-flop-footed, Ed-Hardy-wearing fashion nobodies, those who care – those who spend time in the right crowds – know that there is a fashion scene in Los Angeles that is alive and well and creating some of the most innovative fashion this side of London. Through the work of the council and our tours, such as February’s show room for London Fashion Week, we’re looking to put these talented individuals on the map changing the global perception of Los Angeles whilst evolving our fashion community at home.

With the help of the team at ASOS Marketplace, who visited our London Calling Show Room in the UK and were so enamored with our designers that they waived all “Boutique” fee’s, we’re so excited to be able to give these designers a venue to sell their collections.

Launching today, “Le Shoppe” by Los Angeles Fashion Council, features the work of some of the designers we took to London; Alana Hale, Jen Awad, Curly V, The Bohemian Society by Victor Wilde, Sires Crown Eyewear, Kittinhawk and Bijou Van Ness. The collection also features Los Angeles Fashion Council original t-shirts.

For many of our designers, this is first time their collections have been available at retail, and many pieces are exclusively available through our store.

The photography for our store was shot on the streets of downtown Los Angeles, by Los Angeles Fashion Council Director and Founder, Kelsi Smith. The collections were modeled by some of our best local fashion bloggers from L.A bloggers organization Two Point Oh! LA including, Olivia Lopez of Lust for Life for Alana Hale, Lux Leonard of Lux Likes It for Jen Awad, Chanelle Laurence of The Penelope Times for Curly V, Jenny Wu of Good, Bad and Fab and Peter Adrian of The Hobbyist for The Bohemian Society, Bethany Struble of Snakes Nest for Kittinhawk, Marie Legette of The Curvy Fashionista for Bijou Van Ness and again, Peter and Bethany for Sires Crown Eyewear.
