When you think of vintage clothing, what comes to mind? For me, it’s the romantically unapologetic feminine way of dress – a tea-length skirt paired with a modest top and perhaps even a scarf around the neck. Back when gender lines were clearly defined and a woman’s style included a pretty dress – that vision of America is still so special to me.
And being a woman is a very special thing! Sometimes we forget just how powerful it is to be female, and that’s why I loved working with Shabby Apple. Shabby Apple is an online store with designs that focus on the vintage looks from the past, just modernized and made suitable for today’s woman. Think of a mix between hipster and retro with a touch of prep – that’s Shabby Apple. Although they sell a variety of fabulous accessories and chic clothing, I am especially smitten with their dresses. For me, feminine pieces like dresses garner a certain amount of power and prowess, like, “I am woman, hear me roar!” 🙂
I was given the opportunity to utilize the “power of the dress” with the Micha Maxi Dress from Shabby Apple, a piece that immediately radiates poise and style. A little bit ‘70s with a graphic techno-age pattern, this dress combines all kinds of fun and artful style elements. There was just something about wearing this maxi that made me feel imminently more feminine and confident. You don’t need to show a ton of skin to feel beautiful, and it’s great to be reminded of that! I liked that it was bold but not too flashy, so I decided to head out to a historic mountain park near where I live for an impromptu shoot. It was the perfect, natural backdrop – unassuming yet scenic, and the perfect muse for an afternoon shoot.
Isn’t it amazing the feeling that a great piece of clothing can bring? I love when companies like Shabby Apple share their visions with the world, especially through really cute clothes. Rocking fab clothes with a dose of feminine fearlessness is something I can definitely endorse… And that’s not shabby at all. 😉

I shopped Shabby Apple years ago but then forgot about it for some reason. Not sure why, as they have amazing things! I really love your dress and the 70’s vibe. The yellow necklace goes PERFECTLY with it!

I would #ShowYourShabby by wearing it to work.
I love Shabby Apple, although haven’t gotten anything from them yet. I’m more drawn to the dresses and I would probably try to get one that I could wear to a baby shower and then maybe to a GNO and date with my hubby. Like to get versatile pieces so I can maximize it. 🙂
I mainly wear dresses at work and jeans at home but it might be nice to mix it up and wear a dress for a meal out with the hubby
I love how that purple pops against that yellow! It works so well with the color mix in the dress! Beautiful!

I love Shabby Apple but haven’t bought anything yet. I’d pick something that was versatile enough to wear to work, dinner, church or an outing by dressing it up or down with accessories, shoes and hairstyle.
You look beautiful! I would #ShowYourShabby by wearing one of their beautiful dresses to a wedding I have coming up in April.
Thanks for the chance to win!
