Simply Be YOU-tiful! Sonsi in the City (recap)

Wheeeew! I’m still in recoup-mode behind a series of amazing events that I attended over the last few months, and needless to say I will be super busy trying to get you the recap of all of them. So, with that being said, there is one event that still “pops” into my mind….it’s the Sonsi “Blogger “Be YOU-tiful” Pop-Up Party that was held in New York City. This exclusive event surrounded the Full Figure Fashion Week festivities and offered bloggers a first look at what’s in-store for Sonsi® brands for the upcoming Fall season. This fabulous event featured gifts, giveaways, glam stations, gorgeous clothes, curvy gals, yummy goodies and good times!!!

The event was held on the 14^th floor penthouse at 320 Studios, and unfortunately I was a tad bit late because of the New York traffic (go figure). But when I finally arrived, the ambiance more than made up for my disdain with the commute. So, upon entering we were each greeted with a bag filled with girly goodies like fab jewelry and accessories, and we also enjoyed breakfast inspired nibbles, lots of pampering, a little bit of shopping, and plenty of networking. I was honored to meet the CEO and Executive Producer of Full Figure Fashion Week, Gwen DeVoe who looked fabulous! I also had the pleasure of meeting the amazing Jessica Kane of Skorch Magazine as well as a host of lovely bloggers from all over the world such as European fashion blogger “Les pitreries de Vanoue”, the fabulous Swa-Rai from Chicago, twin stylists from the Big Apple, Jeka and Jeke of La Maison Deux, Diva extraordinaire Marie Denee aka The Curvy Fashionista, and Editor in Chief of PLUS Model Magazine, Madeline Jones, to name a few. We had such a great time networking and chatting about fashion as well as our upcoming endeavors. I also ran into one of my fellow BFF’s and blog beauty Parker Simmons of Everyday Runway 365 who looked absolutely amazing! I must admit that when I saw that gorgeous Coach poppy sequin bag that Parker was rocking I began to suffer from a serious case of bag-envy. Parker; we need to talk girl! LOL

After a little bit of mixing and mingling, the wonderful gals at Sonsi held a giveaway, and guess whose name was called? That’s right divas! Yours truly won a fab Diane Von Furstenberg bag that was valued at $200. So, of course I did what any diva would do… I screamed out loud in my best Vicky voice…Whooohooo!!!

Following the Sonsi soiree was part two of the days’ festivities called Curves in the City. This shopping showcase featured even more Sonsi brands (there are over 300 in total), and was being held at the swanky Affinia Manhattan Hotel in Midtown. If you ever get a chance to visit NYC you’ve gotta stop by the Midtown area. You can thank me later! 😉 Ok, so the first stop was at the ShopBJewel table where I met the Candice Guy and Gail. Let me tell you… Their pieces were absolutely amazing!!! I was so wide-eyed for this “rocked-out” clutch that it had to be literally pried from MY clutches! So, after they peeled my off of that beauty, I headed over to the Curvaceous Boutique setup where I met Cassandra. I just love her, and her clothes are nice and stylish, and affordable (which we all like). Then I headed over to MYNT 1792 by Adorn Fashions. MYNT 1792 is a new plus size line that’s launching in September 2012. I had a chance to check out some of their upcoming pieces AND I got a chance to sashay down their mini-runway. I even snagged a $50 AMEX card for best pic too! (Time to re-channel Vicky again… Whooohooo!!!)

So after all that shopping and fun it was time to grab something to eat. Now, you can’t go to the NYC and not indulge in the local flavor, right? And what says New York better than a slice of good ol’ fashion pizza! So Parker and I headed over to the nearest pizzeria for a bite, and then (of course) it was off to do a bit more shopping! While Parker and I were waiting in the lobby of the hotel we ran into the fabulous Lola Darling of the ATL. When I tell you this gal’s style is fierce, I’m being modest…loved loved loved that dress Lola! It was haute!!!

Thank you Sonsi for the invite! I had such an amazing time in the NYC, and I only wish I could have stayed a teeny bit longer. I shed a few tears when I saw all of the pics from the other bloggers who attended the FFFWeek events, so trust me when I say that I plan on being front and center at next years FFFWeek so that I don’t miss a single moment of all the fun!
