There’s really not much else better than great food, delicious drinks, and fabulous company to go along with it all… And that’s why I was so happy to be invited by Milla of Happily Eating to enjoy an evening of indulgence at none other than The Capital Grille in Dunwoody, Ga.
If you’ve been to The Capital Grille before, you know exactly what I’m talking about when I mention the elegance and the stately setting that makes this place so special. When you go to Capital Grille, you’re not only getting a divine dining experience, but the overall atmosphere transports you into a place of calmness and warmth, just like a restaurant of its caliber should.
The event was an exclusive cocktail mixer and tasting with a group of fabulous foodies…like myself of course. 😉 Needless to say, #CocktailTime was lovely, and we were all #HappilyEating fine fare amongst wonderful company.
As far as Cocktail Time went, I got to have three delightfully different drinks, each with their own flair. The first was the Stoli Doli, the restaurant’s Signature Martini with the fixin’s you’d expect in a martini but with a fruity twist: it was a chilled Stolichnaya Vodka infused with fresh pineapple served straight up. Sure to wake you up and have you ready for summertime! The next cocktail was the Mojito De Uvas, which was Barcadi Light Rum, made sweet and tart with cane sugar syrup and freshly squeezed lime juice, with fresh mint and green grapes added in and topped with champagne for a fizzy finish. The last drink — my favorite — was called The Bohemian. It reminded me of a Sex and the City-style sip, which might be why I liked it so much! The Bohemian was a mix of Absolut Peach with a splash of Mixed Berry Cordial and topped with champagne and a fresh raspberry garnish.
But with all these tasty drinks, it just wouldn’t be fair without a few bites. We tried a few dishes from the bar menu, which was surprisingly adequate! First, there were two appetizers: Cast Iron Garlic Shrimp with Olive Oil Crostini — a succulent seafood choice — and then there was the savory Seared Dry Aged Sirloin with sweet chili vinaigrette and wasabi oil for an Asian spin.
We then moved on to our entrees — I picked the Seared Citrus Glazed Salmon, which was served over haricots verts, and I was not disappointed! It was a wonderful dish choice full of flavor. But the night wasn’t complete without dessert! We capped off the night with a dessert trio (because why try one when you can try three?!): Classic Crème Brûlée with seasonal berries, Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake with cocoa powder and fresh raspberries, and The Capital Grille Cheesecake, a handcrafted, brûlée-like bite with fresh berries. Each dessert in the trio hit just the right spot for every kind of sweet tooth — whether you like to cap your meal with coffee, or you can’t say no to cheesecake, The Capital Grille had a dessert for everyone.
With a night full of decadent dishes and cocktails to inspire a budding mixologist, it’s safe to say that the mixer was a definite success! I enjoyed getting to try the fare at The Capital Grille and get to talk shop with my fellow food aficionados.

The Capital Grille seems like such a great restaurant. Those drinks look amazing and that food looks so yummy. There’s nothing better than a fun night out at a good restaurant.
I haven’t been to the Capital Grille in years, but I do remember they had the best green beans. I need to go out for a cocktail now.
Thank you so much again for coming Nikka! See you again soon! 🙂

The food looks amazing. There was a Capitol Grille in Charlotte, but in all the years I lived there, I think I only made it around to visiting once.
