Let me start by saying that I’m officially proclaiming myself a cake connoisseur. What can I say?… I have a serious love for sweets. I’ll explain…
Recently I was invited to attend Yelp’s ‘Georgia Made’ tasting at the Piece of Cake bakery, and I must say that it was oh-so-sweet! Perhaps I’m a bit biased because of my love affair with Piece of Cake. When I first moved to Atlanta from Houston, my now-husband used to go to the Buckhead location and buy me cupcakes all the time. Needless to say, I fell head over heels for these yummy delights (and my husband for doing so, of course 😉 ). When he proposed to me, he actually got me a dozen cupcakes with my favorite flavors – Key Lime, Red Velvet, Orange, Birthday Cake, and White Chocolate. Awwww!!!! I obviously said yes, and the rest is sweet history!
So I was super thrilled to attend Yelp’s Georgia Made event since I’d already had a longtime love affair with Piece of Cake. And I couldn’t wait to sample the goodies they were serving. And they DID NOT DISAPPOINT! First we got to sample yummy jams and sumptuous spreads, but I am of course partial to the cakes. 😉 They know me oh-so well because they had a table full of sweet goodies just begging for a bite (or four). Needless to say, I gave in to temptation, but can you blame me?! I immediately gravitated towards the Red Velvet and White Chocolate varieties with Cream Cheese Frosting (I’m so predictable). I even got out of my comfort zone and tried some of the other flavors – because let’s be honest, Piece of Cake does everything deelish. And nothing would stand between me and my confection affection. 😉 I told you I’m a cake connoisseur. 😀
During the event we enjoyed a little photo booth fun. We even got to decorate our very own Red Velvet cupcakes which was such a treat. But, the ‘icing-on-the-cake’ (pun intended) was when we took a behind-the-sweets peek of the bakery, showing us just how these yummy little morsels were made. It was awesome to see how much care goes into creating these delightful delights. Hey, I always assumed they were heaven sent, but now I knew they were created by angels. 😀
To cap off our night of indulgence, we got to hear from the owners, Helen and Melissa, who surprisingly had no prior baking experience! I was shocked to say the least, but definitely inspired by their gumption and ability to whip up some the most incredible cupcakes THIS girl has ever had.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… Piece of Cake is a “Yes!” from me! 😉
Thanks to Yelp for hosting such a fabulously fun affair at Piece of Cake. It was such a treat! 😉 Be sure to drop by any of the 9 metro Atlanta area Piece of Cake locations and create your very own sweet sweet memories.
